Why do I need a remap?
Having a remap will give you more power when overtaking or in general all the time. This doesn’t mean your car will be a sports car, but it will just be more responsive, and you will have power only when you need it. It will give you the feel of a new car, adds some new joy to your car.
Can I get Stage 2 or 3 on my car?
For Stage 1 no modifications are needed and the remap can be done to the car at its stock form. However for stage 2 or stage 3 remaps you will need to have done modifications to the cars engine. There is no exact power gains on stage 2 or stage 3 because the gains depend on what modifications have been done to the car. For example you might have upgraded your fuel pump but there are many different ones you can get and each one will give different power gains. Some modifications for stage 2 or 3 could be, bigger turbo, Bigger injectors, fuel pump, air intake system, exhaust system and more.
Emissions Control Modification
All Emissions Control modifications are illegal for public road use, and must only done if the vehicle is going to be used on private land or in an area/ country where Modifications to emssions control software is not illegal. These are DPF,EGR,Adblue,SwirlFlap,Labda(02)pops&bangs ect. If you are unsure please contact your local traffic authority for confirmation on the matter.
Pops & Bangs
Pops and bangs fuel being ignited early and casuing a spark to produce the pops and bangs. Pops and bangs in general is not healthy for an engine and we would warn everyone wanting this as it can lead to engine failure and other issues. This is a warning we give to everyone wanting pops and bangs. Also for pops and bangs a decat downpipe is a must. If you still have a cat and want pops and bangs, you could cause damages to your cat, turbo and you might not hear the pops and bangs properly as its being muffled by the cat. We have done hundereds of pops and bangs tune without issues but as a warning we advise customers to read all the terms and conditions on this website/page.
Will I burn more fuel?
This is actually a very popular question in remapping. On diesel cars you will burn less fuel with a remap as the car does not need to use as much power as before. Your car will do the normal tasks as you already were without struggling. On a diesel car on average you will save about 5-15% on fuel. However, because you have more power, if you put your foot down all the time you will not see this gains for fuel economy. If you drive as you did before, you should see a difference.
On Petrol cars it is a different story, on some petrol cars you can save fuel too depending if the car has a turbo or not, but mostly the fuel economy will stay the same. Again, because the car will have more power, it will be easy for the car to burn more due to the newly acquired power.
What is the procedure?
The first we do when we see the car is start it and make sure its running. The second thing we do is do a quick diagnostics check to make sure there are no hidden errors from the car and if there is, we will let the owner know and its up to them to continue the remap. The next step is to copy the cars ECU file from the car. We then have this file modified to our request such as stage 1 with pops & bangs. Once the file is modified we will write the new modified file onto the car. Once the new file is loaded we then go out on a test drive to make sure everything is working perfectly and that there are no problems and that the owner is happy with the remap. If you are not happy with the remap at the time of doing the work we can alter the file to meet your needs. If you are still not happy we can then load back the stock file and not charge you for the remap (only if its at the time of doing the work).
Will a remap cause any problems to my engine?
The simple answer is no. This is because manufacturers never tune/ program their cars to the maximum amount of power, this is due to emissions. They will tune it lower than what it is capable of, so they can be seen as environmentally friendly. Also, the tunes we use are within safe boundaries of the engine, for example if we can tune your car from 120Hp to 155Hp, this is in a safe zone for the car. We can tune a car like this to 170Hp or even higher, however this is where you will start to see problems with engine components. (just an example, some engines can handle way more power than this as a gain).
Why don't manufactures remap the cars to these figures?
They do but you don’t realise it. This is where they make their money. As an example BMW 5-Series (F10 2010-2016) has 7 different variations of the same engine. They have a 518D (136Hp), 518D(143HP), 518D (150HP), 520D (163Hp), 520D (184Hp), 520D (190HP) and 520D(200HP). These are all the same engine but BMW have under tuned them so they can sell a higher version of the car for more. All of these engines can be tuned to 220Hp.
Would I need to inform my insurance?
Yes, you need to inform your insurance of any modifications you do whither it is an engine mod such as a remap or a sports air filter or a speaker change. The insurer should be notified of any modifications you do.
Would it void my warranty?
Yes. Any modifications you make to the engine or engine components will void the warranty. Even using a unbranded oil filter will void your warranty.
Can I return my car to its original state (back to stock)
Yes, we hold on to your cars ecu file for 20-30 days (just incase) if its within this period we can put it to stock (fees will apply). If its after this date, hope is not lost as we can still try and source a original stock file (fees will apply). If you have any issues let us know and we can see if we can help you out.
What if my car has already been remapped and I am not aware of this?
In the case that you are unaware (us also) if the ECU has been modified before hand, we would try to make improvements where possible. In some cases we might not be able to copy the exact data from the car directly but a virtual copy of the ECU (Online Stock file for the vehicle), we would not know what was changed or deleted from the system. Such as if previously the EGR system has been deleted and we are unaware of this and read is the Virtual Read then this EGR delete will be lost and can give an EGR error after we modify the file. If the vehicle has been tuned and we are unaware of this, you will still be charged normally as the time and the process will still be the same.
Do you provide any kind of warranty?
The only warranty we provide is you will feel the difference in power, throttle response ect. If when we do the remap you do not feel a difference, will not charge you any money and return your car back to stock. As for warranty for your engine and engine components, we do not provide any type of warranty for this as anything could happen to your engine before or after a remap. Its an engine with moving parts and they can fail at any time. We will warranty that during the ecu remapping process if there is a problem with the ecu we will repair this so your car is back to a driving state (Our warranty if for the ECU as that is the part of the car we are touching). .
